Join our workshop series designed exclusively for parents of teenagers and aimed at building strong parent-teen relationships. Bought to you by Good Life Hub and BRIYM, a company run by teachers with a passion for building resilience in young people. Our workshops aim to help parents navigate the teenage years, which can be challenging for both teens and their parents. The teenage years are a time of great change and growth, both physically and emotionally. Adolescents experience a range of emotions, and their behaviour can be confusing, frustrating, and at times, worrying.

Our workshop series consists of four interactive workshops aimed at equipping you with valuable insights and practical techniques for connecting with your teenager.

Each workshop requires a separate booking. Please follow the links provided for the workshops you wish to attend.

WORKSHOP 1:
Understanding Your Teenager: Tips and Strategies for Building a Strong Relationship

In this foundational workshop, BRIYM will explore the developmental changes and psychological shifts that characterise the teenage years. This period sees substantial brain development, often causing our children to evolve from reasonable youngsters into seemingly challenging adolescents. This workshop will help you understand and empathise with your children, their unique perspectives, and the challenges they face in modern life. Understanding their lives and the anxieties they face will help you create a stronger connection with your child. BRIYM will teach you a range of effective strategies to build trust, respect boundaries, and strengthen the parent-teen bond.

Date: TBC. 7pm-8:45pm

WORKSHOP 2:
Navigating Social Media: Tips for Parents on Teenagers and Social Media, and Staying Safe and Sane Online.

The digital age presents new challenges in parenting. In this workshop, BRIYM will help you gain valuable insights into the world of social media and its impact on teenagers. Learn about online safety, setting healthy screen time limits and how to negotiate this with your children, and fostering responsible online behaviour. Arm yourself with knowledge your teenager will not expect, to help guide them through the complex landscape of social media.

Date: TBC, 7pm-8:45pm

WORKSHOP 3:
Connecting with your Teen: Effective Communication Strategies

Communication is key to any successful relationship. In this workshop, BRIYM will introduce communication techniques tailored to engage your teenager effectively. Learn active listening, open-ended questioning, and non-judgmental conversation skills that encourage your teenager to share their thoughts and feelings. Strengthen your connection by creating a safe space for open dialogue.

Date: TBC, 7pm-8:45pm

WORKSHOP 4:
Parenting for Success: How Not to Be a Crap Parent

In our final workshop, BRIYM will explore essential principles of positive parenting to promote healthy teen development. Delve into strategies for setting boundaries without being overly restrictive, providing guidance without stifling independence, and nurturing self-esteem. By embracing these techniques, you can confidently navigate the challenges of parenting and support your teenager’s journey toward success.

Date: TBC, 7pm-8:45pm

Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your parenting skills and create a lasting, meaningful relationship with your teenager. Join our workshop series and empower yourself with the knowledge and tools needed to build a strong foundation for your family’s future.

ABOUT US
Charlotte Hartley & BRIYM
Charlotte Hartley is the director of BRIYM – Building Resilience In Young Minds.
BRIYM is a team of skilled therapists who used to be teachers and have over 50 years of experience in schools.
Charlotte Hartley was a former teacher who, having worked as a classroom teacher and Head of Year for 20 years, decided to retrain as a therapist and set up BRIYM. It was clear to her that there was a huge unmet mental health crisis affecting young people. Her aim in building BRIYM is to support young people with their mental health in providing practical techniques to the many young people who are suffering from the multiple pressures of being a young person in today’s society.
BRIYM now works in many secondary schools and supports young people in groups and one to one sessions to help them deal with their mental health.
Charlotte has a wealth of experience working with young people and is offering this workshop to parents to discuss the pressures teenager are under, the teenage brain and ways to deal with adolescent anxiety.
